Sheraton Steamboat Resort Announces New Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef

Jon Demel joins as Executive Chef and Matt Elkins is promoted to Executive Sous Chef at Sheraton Steamboat Resort

  

Steamboat Springs , Colo. , March 20, 2008… The Sheraton Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs , Colo. is proud to announce the appointments of Jon Demel to the position of executive chef and Matt Elkins to executive sous chef at the resort. 
Jon Demel will be responsible for food preparation, production and control for all food outlets, including Sevens Restaurant, Bear River Bar & Grill and 3 Saddles Bar and Grill as well as all banquet facilities at the resort. He will also be responsible for enhancing the food presented to Sheraton Steamboat guests, maintaining quality of food product and ensuring consistency in food delivery and standards. 
Prior to joining the Sheraton Steamboat Resort, Demel was executive chef at the Inverness Hotel & Conference Center in Englewood , Colo. He has also worked at The Westin Tabor Center in Denver , and at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M. Demel holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado . 
Matt Elkins will support and assist the executive chef by overseeing the day-to-day culinary operations at the resort, including training, supervising staff and monitoring food quality of the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. 
Elkins was promoted from banquet chef to executive sous chef at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort. Elkins has also worked as a sous chef at Sheraton Steamboat, as well as a former line cook at Alpine Bistro in Steamboat Springs, Colo. He graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y.
